Start a school nursery

One nursery can grow hundreds of seedlings a year. This is the single biggest thing a class can do together.

How to do it

  1. 01

    Find a corner of the school ground with morning sun and afternoon shade.

  2. 02

    Fill poly bags or old tins with a mix of soil, sand and compost.

  3. 03

    Sow seeds you collected yourselves, one species per row, labelled.

  4. 04

    Make a watering rota so every child has a turn and no week is missed.

  5. 05

    Give the seedlings away at the start of monsoon — that is when they survive best.
